Three Weddington High volleyball players earned All-Conference honors to close out a 19-11 season.

Brooke Hodgin, Elin Steinberger and Amina Boric received the recognition, Weddington High School Athletics announced on X on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

The selections reward a Warriors squad that went 6-6 in conference play and finished fourth in the standings, according to MaxPreps. Weddington is ranked 18th in North Carolina.

The Warriors were dominant at home, posting a 9-2 record. They also went 6-2 in neutral-site tournaments. Road games proved tougher at 4-7.

Weddington opened the season with a 3-0 sweep of Kings Mountain on Aug. 11 and rattled off nonconference wins over Mooresville, Providence and Hoggard before conference play began. The Warriors swept Charlotte Catholic, Sun Valley, Cuthbertson, Porter Ridge and Piedmont in the first half of conference action, building a strong first-half record.

The second half brought adversity. Weddington dropped four consecutive conference matches, including losses to Marvin Ridge and Cuthbertson. Several of those results were recorded as forfeits on the MaxPreps schedule, though no explanation was listed.

The Warriors also picked up nonconference wins over Cox Mill and Hough during that stretch, keeping their overall record above .500.

Weddington entered the conference tournament and swept Porter Ridge 3-0 on Monday, Oct. 12, then beat Cuthbertson 3-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 13, as we reported that day. The run ended Wednesday, Oct. 14, with a 3-1 tournament loss at Marvin Ridge, per MaxPreps.

Marvin Ridge claimed its fourth consecutive conference volleyball title with that win, as we reported Oct. 13.

The rivalry carries personal weight for Weddington coach Katie Jamerson, a 2021 Marvin Ridge graduate and 2018 state champion with the Mavericks. In a September Enquirer Journal profile, Jamerson called coaching against her alma mater "bittersweet" after Weddington's 3-0 regular-season loss there on Sept. 3.

Hodgin, Steinberger and Boric add individual conference honors to a season that included 64 sets won against 32 lost. The Warriors' postseason schedule has not yet been posted on MaxPreps.
