Prescott Glen Parkway drops to one lane Tuesday, Oct. 20, as crews begin connecting sewer lines for a new townhome development in Waxhaw.
The lane closures will last about three weeks, the Town of Waxhaw announced Friday, Oct. 16.
The affected stretch runs between the roundabout at Pine Oak Road and the roundabout behind Lowes Foods. Flaggers and signage will direct drivers through alternating one-way traffic in the work zone.
Work hours run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The road won't fully close. Drivers can expect normal two-lane traffic outside those hours.
What's behind the work
The closures are tied to a sewer connection for the Artisan Townhomes, a 169-unit townhome neighborhood planned for the Prescot Village area. Eric Candee of Widewaters Group is listed as the applicant and owner on the town's developer projects page. The town's planning records list the case number as SUB-015772-2024.
Because this is a developer-funded project, the town noted that the construction schedule could shift due to weather or other factors outside its control.
The road's recent changes
Drivers who use Prescott Glen Parkway are still adjusting to a traffic pattern change that took effect Dec. 17, 2025. A town engineering project realigned Pine Oak Road east of the bridge to connect with Prescott Glen Parkway through a new roundabout. Under the new pattern, Pine Oak Road at NC-16 is right-in, right-out only. Drivers who need to turn left onto NC-16 must now use Prescott Glen Parkway to reach the traffic signal between Sam's Xpress Car Wash and Lowes Foods, according to the town's traffic projects page.
The sewer work falls within that same corridor. Commuters who adjusted to the December traffic pattern change will now face about three weeks of single-lane closures on the same stretch.
The town listed the schedule as subject to change. Weather or other factors could extend the work past the three-week estimate.
