Plumped, the Charlotte-based med spa that opened a Waxhaw location in July, has added a nonsurgical body contouring treatment to its menu.
The treatment, called AlloClae, uses processed and sterilized human donor fat to add volume beneath the skin without liposuction or harvesting fat from the patient, according to The Charlotte Weekly.
"We are proud to be one of the few establishments and the only med spa to offer this treatment in Charlotte," said Kristin Cabeda, founder of Plumped.
No surgery is required. Cabeda called AlloClae "an instant, natural alternative to contouring in a way that doesn't require more surgical steps than needed."
The product is classified as FDA-compliant, regulated under federal human tissue safety standards, according to the MD Beauty Labs website, which offers the treatment. The procedure does not require liposuction and is performed in-office using local anesthesia, according to the MD Beauty Labs website.
Plumped opened its 2,480-square-foot Waxhaw location at 216D W. North Main St. on July 27 after nearly eight months of remodeling, The Charlotte Weekly reported at the time. The company invested more than $600,000 in the space, which previously housed a hair salon.
Cabeda, a board-certified physician assistant, founded Plumped in 2020 in a salon loft on Stonewall Street in Charlotte before moving to a West Morehead Street location in May 2022. She previously worked in cardiology and critical care medicine at Atrium Health.
The Waxhaw location also offers injectables, facials, chemical peels, microneedling, laser treatments and medically supervised weight management.
Plumped maintains its Charlotte headquarters on West Morehead Street. More information is available at plumpedclt.com.
