Weddington High's junior varsity football team finished its 2026 season without a loss, the school announced on X on Oct. 27.
"Congratulations to our JV Football team on all their hard work and completing a perfect Undefeated season," the post read.
The Warriors played in the Southern Carolina 6A/7A conference and closed the year unbeaten. Two late-season conference results against area rivals illustrate the run.
On Oct. 1, Weddington traveled to Marvin Ridge and edged the Mavericks 21-14, according to MaxPreps. The Warriors improved to 7-0 with the victory.
The following week, Weddington visited Cuthbertson and won 33-6, pushing the record to 8-0. The Cavaliers entered that game at 3-3. MaxPreps listed Porter Ridge as the Warriors' next conference opponent, with the two teams set to meet Oct. 15.
The 21-14 margin against Marvin Ridge was the tightest of the two confirmed scores. The Cuthbertson result, a 27-point gap, showed a different gear.
The school's X post tagged accounts for Union County Public Schools, the UCPS athletics department, Weddington High and the NAS Athletic Zone, but did not name the JV coaching staff or individual players.
With the JV season complete, no further games remain on the Warriors' schedule.
