Marvin Ridge swept the team titles at the Hare and Hounds XC Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19, at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte.
Both the girls and boys squads finished first. Caitlin Kasten won the girls' championship race in 17:22, and Adam Haggart finished second in the boys' championship race in 15:22.
The 16th annual invitational, hosted by Metrolina Christian Academy, featured championship-division races limited to seven runners per team. The boys' race went off at 7:45 a.m. on the Larry McAfee Course, with the girls' race following at 8:05 a.m.
Under the meet's award structure, the top individual finisher in each race earns a "Hare" trophy and the runner-up receives a "Hound" trophy. Kasten took home the Hare. Haggart earned the Hound. The top two teams in each race received team trophies.
The double sweep came under new leadership for the Mavericks. Marvin Ridge Athletics announced in July that Coach Carberry had been hired to lead cross country and women's track and field.
Marvin Ridge Athletics posted the results on X, calling it a morning the Mavericks "owned."
The Mavericks opened their 2026 season at the Carolinas Kickoff on Saturday, Aug. 29, after a weather cancellation, and competed at Ivey Redmond Park on Friday, Sept. 11, before Saturday's invitational. Marvin Ridge's next meet had not been announced as of Sunday, Sept. 20.
