Marvin residents can haul furniture, electronics and appliances to Village Hall for free disposal or recycling on Saturday, Oct. 17.

The Village of Marvin and Active Waste Solutions will staff the drop-off from 9 a.m. to noon at 10006 Marvin School Road. Active Waste will park roll-off containers on site for residents to unload accepted bulky and electronic items. The event is part of a twice-yearly collection program the village runs with Active Waste.

The full list of accepted items is posted on the village's waste and recycling page. Paint, chemicals and glass are not accepted. Paint and chemicals can go to Foxhole Recycling Center at 17131 Lancaster Highway in Charlotte. Glass can be dropped off free for Union County residents at 4600 Goldmine Road in Monroe.

If severe weather forces a postponement, the village will post an update on its website. Mary Cañongo, the village's executive assistant, can answer questions at (704) 843-1680, Press 1.
