Two Union County residents face attempted murder charges after allegedly luring a man to a Waxhaw home and shooting him.

Jose Ibarra, of Waxhaw, and Bobbie McRae, of Monroe, are held without bond at the Union County Detention Center, Queen City News reported, citing the Union County Sheriff's Office and arresting documents. Ibarra is charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and felony conspiracy. McRae is charged with attempted murder, felony obstructing justice and felony conspiracy.

Both are held without bond.

The sheriff's office says detectives allege Ibarra and McRae conspired to bring a 27-year-old victim to Ibarra's Waxhaw residence because of what investigators described as a prior history between the individuals. The nature of that history has not been disclosed.

According to the sheriff's office, the victim unknowingly rode to the home as a passenger in a vehicle McRae was driving. Once at the residence, Ibarra allegedly approached the vehicle, broke a window and fired one round from a black semi-automatic handgun, arresting documents state.

The single bullet caused entry and exit wounds to both of the victim's biceps. Deputies first learned of the shooting after responding to Atrium Health Union hospital in Monroe on Aug. 22 for a reported gunshot wound.

Investigators accuse the pair of communicating throughout the night leading up to the shooting. Arresting documents indicate McRae later deleted text messages, call logs and Facebook conversations connected to the alleged crime.

Ibarra was arrested on Aug. 23, one day after the shooting. McRae was arrested on Friday, Sept. 11, by a Monroe Police Department unit. No update on the victim's condition beyond the initial injury has been made public.

McRae was convicted in 2017 of possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance in Alleghany County, according to Queen City News. No public statement from a Union County Sheriff's Office spokesperson about this case has been located.

Ibarra's next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 13. McRae's is set for Nov. 24.
