Weddington boys soccer opened its 2026 season with a 1-1 tie at South Mecklenburg on Tuesday, Aug. 18, and sits at 1-1-1 through three games.
The Warriors had chances to steal a win in overtime against the Sabres, according to the Enquirer Journal. South Mecklenburg's defense held firm around its goalpost to preserve the draw.
Weddington bounced back two days later with a 2-1 road win at Providence Day on Thursday, Aug. 20, according to MaxPreps. That remains the Warriors' lone victory.
Head coach Keith Beaty has his squad focused on team unity and controlled intensity early in the season, the Enquirer Journal reported. The Warriors, members of the Southern Carolina Conference, have played all three games on the road so far.
The third game in the 1-1-1 record has not been publicly confirmed. Weddington was scheduled at Carmel Christian on Tuesday, Aug. 25, and faced Olympic on Wednesday, Aug. 26, but results from those matches were not available at publication time.
The schedule stays busy. MaxPreps lists upcoming away matches at Hickory Ridge and at CCDS on Thursday, Sept. 3, followed by a home match against Parkwood on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
